Marketing and Promotions Internship
The Purcellville Cannons are a 501(c)(3) corporation that is a member of the Valley Baseball League
(VBL), a summer baseball league founded in 1923 that plays in communities in the Shenandoah Valley.
The VBL is a NCAA sanctioned league and a member of the National Alliance of College Summer
Baseball.
Marketing & Promotions Internship
Provides students with an interest in marketing an opportunity to improve their craft while working with
the leading team for attendance in the VBL the past 5 years.Interns will be responsible for managing
on-field promotions before and during games. Interns will be given the opportunity to design
promotional days at the ballpark and marketing the team in the local community throughout the season.
Tasks include:
*Operating on-field activities before and during games
*Handling the “in-game MC” duties for fan involvement
*Design and implement promotional days
*Formulate fan activities during games
*Marketing the team during the season
*Assist with mascot activities during games
Required Qualifications
*Enrollment in 2 or 4 year college degree program or active high school junior/senior
Preferred Qualifications
*Experience with marketing field
*Strong oral communication skills
*Basic understanding of baseball
*Ability to be comfortable interacting with fans, including children and adults
*Must be available May 30 - August 5; internship is unpaid but eligible for college credits

Social Media Internship

Social Media Internship
Provides students with an interest in social media management and journalism an opportunity to
improve their craft while working with the leading team for attendance in the VBL the past 5 years. The
internship offers an opportunity to broaden, expand, and develop skills in the sports media, social media
and journalism concentrations.
Tasks include:
*Compose and submit press releases
*Write game reports for online media
*Update website and social media networks
*Compose player and team special reports
*Develop creative ideas to grow the organization
*Management of multiple remotely controlled cameras for internet streaming
*Conduct video interviews with players and coaching staff
Required Qualifications
*Enrollment in 2 or 4 year college degree program or active high school junior/senior
Preferred Qualifications
*Strong written and oral communication skills
*Understanding of current social media technology
*Basic understanding of baseball
*Must be available May 30 - August 5; internship is unpaid but eligible for college credits

Analytics Internship

member of the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball.
Analytics Internship
Provides students with an interest in sports analytics an opportunity to improve their craft
while working with the leading team for attendance in the VBL the past 5 years. Interns
will be responsible for tracking game data and working with players and coaches to
integrate it in a way that improves the team and individual players’ skill.
Tasks include:
*Tracking home and away games using analytic software to provide accurate reports
*Logging pitch radar data to help players improve velocity and mechanics
*Coordinating video to assist players with pitching and hitting mechanics
*Using new and emerging technologies as they develop
*Collaborate with other departments and the coaching staff
Required Qualifications
*Enrollment in 2 or 4 year college degree program or active high school junior/senior
Preferred Qualifications
*Experience with sports analytics or data analysis
*Strong oral communication skills
*Basic understanding of baseball
*Must be available May 30 - August 5; internship is unpaid but eligible for college credits
