Cannons upset Riverbandits in Walkoff Fashion![]() The Purcellville Cannons (8-22) hosted the Woodstock River Bandits (21-12) on Monday night at Fireman's Field. Tonight's game was a typical "Pitchers duel" between two teams going in opposite directions. One team was heading towards a below .500 season. The other team was looking for a late playoff run and a chance to win a championship. Woodstock, throughout the night, was over-aggressive. On multiple occasions, Purcellville's pitchers caught River Bandits base runners napping on the base paths. It stayed tied at 0-0 up till the late innings. Christian Collier (LBW) broke the scoreless tie with an RBI double to put the Cannons up, 1-0. The shining star from tonight's game was Logan Walters (Memphis). He gave everything he had out on that mound. Walters pitched eight innings, allowing one earned run while striking out eleven. That run he gave up came in the 7th inning to tie the game, 1-1. Each inning after that, both teams had chances to score runs. Tonight's game went to extra innings, and Cannons fans showed their support. Newly added, Will Portera (Alabama) was the hero tonight as he drove in the winning run. Purcellville, with the win, improved to 9-22 on the season.
The Cannons return to action tomorrow back at Fireman's field to play the Winchester Royals. The game time is 7 PM ET!
