Cannons Win at Home vs CardinalsThe Purcellville Cannons (4-12) hosted the Front Royal Cardinals (6-11) at Fireman's field on Friday night. Parker Collier (Wallace CC) started on the mound for Purcellville. He pitched four innings, allowing no earned runs. The Cannons took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st. Front Royal quickly responded and tied the game 1-1 in the 3rd. In the 4th inning, the Cannons scored three runs to retake a 4-1 lead. Manager Brett Fuller brought in newly added Brooks Byers (Wallace CC) out of the bullpen to replace Collier. Once Purcellville got the lead, they kept it the rest of the night. In the 6th, the Cannons scored five runs to widen the score. Going into the 7th, Purcellville was up 9-1. The Cardinals didn't quit as they planted across three runs to make the game closer. In the 8th inning, Purcellville added another run via a solo home run by Geordon Blanton (Marshall). Front Royal didn't go down without a fight the whole game. The Cannons won 10-6 and are now on a 2-game winning streak.
The Cannons return to action tomorrow on the road at Woodstock to play the River Bandits. The game time is 7 PM.
