Cannons end Skid with Victory at Front Royal![]() The Purcellville Cannons (3-12) traveled to Front Royal (6-10) to play the Cardinals. Purcellville struck right off the bat in the first inning, scoring a run to put them up, 1-0. Runs were at a premium throughout the game. Front Royal tied the game at 1-1 in the 2nd. It stayed tied all the way up till the 5th inning when Purcellville opened up the score. Jack Chermside (Northwest Florida St Col) hit a bases-clearing double to put the Cannons up 4-1. That hit single-handedly put Purcellville in the driver's seat the rest of the game. Logan Walters (Memphis) had his best pitching performance of the season, going seven strong innings. He gave up two earned runs and struck out eleven. Purcellville needed a great start from Walters, and he did just that. Up 4-2 going into the 9th, the Cannons added two runs. Matthew Poston (Florence-Darlington Tech) shut the door on the 7-game losing streak and earned the save. Purcellville won 6-2 in a highly emotional game.
The Cannons return to action tomorrow at Fireman's Field to play the Front Royal Cardinals again. The game time is 7 PM ET!
