Cannons Fall Late to Royals![]() The Purcellville Cannons (3-7) traveled to Winchester (5-2) to get a much-needed win. Through two innings, there was no score as both sides couldn't get anything going offensively. Purcellville got on the board in the third, scoring three runs. The Royals had an extensive third inning plating across four runs. After getting up early in the game, Purcellville was down 4-3. In the fourth, the Cannons tied the game. Both sides went back and forth, exchanging runs. Luke Pectol (San Jacinto CC) broke the tie with a 2-run homer to put the Cannons up 6-4. The Royals scored a run to cut down their deficit to one. Parker Collier (Wallace-Dothan Community College) started on the mound for the Cannons. He pitched five innings, struck out two, and gave up four earned runs. All four earned runs came around to score in the 3rd inning. Besides that inning, I don't think you could have asked for anything more of Collier. Manager Brett Fuller called in Luke Stone (Allen County CC) to get the final nine out of the game. It stayed 6-5 till the 8th inning when Winchester tied. Winchester's Colin Smith (Southeastern CC) hit an RBI single to tie things up at 6. . The Royals also took the lead in the 8th. 7-6 was the final score as the Cannons let one slip away. Purcellville will have to bounce back after this tough loss.
The Cannons return to action tomorrow in New Market to play the Rebels. The first pitch is at 7 PM ET.
