Cannons fall on Road

The Purcellville Cannons (3-6) traveled to Front Royal (2-6) in hopes of getting a bounceback win after falling short of a comeback the night before. Purcellville got off to a great start in the first inning, scoring first on a passed ball. Christian Collier (Lurleen B Wallace St JC) scored on that play to put Purcellville up 1-0. That was the only time the Cannons led in tonight's game. Front Royal scored three runs in the bottom of the 1st after a shaky start from Mo Rodriguez (Georgetown). After Rodriguez, Round Hill native Jarrett LoRusso (Roanoke College) came out of the bullpen. The Cannons did not panic as they scored three runs in the 3rd inning. 5-4 Cardinals was the score going into the 4th. After the 4th, it was all Front Royal. Purcellville's bullpen struggled to get out of jams in key moments tonight. One of those being in the 5th inning to put the game out of reach. Junior Ramirez (Mid American Christian U), Luke Pectol (San Jacinto Col North), and Houston King (Kentucky U) all recorded an RBI in the game. For the second straight game, the Cannon's offense sparked in the late innings. Purcellville was patient at the plate and was awarded a lot of traffic on the basses. The Cannons fell short today as they lost, 13-6.

The Cannons return to action tomorrow in Winchester to play the Royals. The first pitch is at 7 PM ET.
