The Purcellville Cannons (1-2) hosted the Strasburg Express (3-1) on Wednesday night at Fireman's Field. Mo Rodriguez (Georgetown) started on the mound for the Cannons. He pitched 2.2 innings, giving up five hits, three earned runs, four walks while striking out one. Rodriguez struggled in the third, allowing six runners to score. After three innings, the score was 6-0 Strasburg. Purcellville's bullpen was relied on early in last night's game in Winchester. Therefore, there weren't a lot of pitchers available to pitch. Manager Brett Fuller used multiple non-pitchers to get through this game tonight as the score quickly got out of hand. Ben Greer (San Jacinto CC) and Jack Chermside (Northwest FL State College) are both position players. They were both called upon to pitch. Strasburg's pitching also struggled tonight as they had to use a total of five pitchers. Purcellville scored seven total runs. Jimmy Goldsmith (Valdosta St University) hit his 2nd home run of the season. Outfielder Brady Drawbaugh (Mount St. Mary's University) had two RBI's on the night. The Express won tonight, 16-7. The Purcellville Cannons have a day off tomorrow. They will return to action on Friday night at Fireman's field to play the New Market Rebels. Friday night's game will begin at 7 PM ET.
