The Cannons have Signed Four Dukes of James Madison University for the 2019 Summer Season--A Catcher, an infielder, a power hitting 1B and a 6-7 RHP.

Returning to the Cannons from the 2018 Roster is Catcher, Kyle Hayes. Hayes was a defensive force behind the dish for the Cannons in 2018. He had 15 Assists in 19 Games at Catcher. Kyle posses elite level catching skills with an unmatched ability to recieve and frame pitches. Having Hayes behind the dish is a comfort for the Cannons as he controls the Pitching staff and limits the opposing teams running game.

The Next Duke to join the Cannons is 3B/SS Carson Bell of Montross, VA. Bell is a Left handed hitting infielder that was a three sport athlete in High School. Coach Ikenberry on Bell, "Carson is a tenacious infielder whose wide array of talents really thrive on the left side of the field. He too is a three sport athlete that can use his flexibility and agility to his advantage. He is a left-handed hitter who has made a reputation for himself as one of the best hitters in the state of Virginia. His knack of knowing how to drive the ball to all fields, with power, is what makes him such an impactful add to our lineup. Our program will benefit from his work ethic and team first mentality."

Coming from the Bronx to join the Cannons in 2019 is LHP/1B Richie Rodriguez. Rodriguez is 6-3, 250lbs with soft hands and good footwork at 1B and has the ability to hit for power from the left side. Coach Ikenberry on Rodriguez, "Richie is going to make his presence known when on the field. His height, strength and mentality are just a few of many great qualities. He is a two-way player whose talents will be utilized both on the mound and on the corner. He's a smart pitcher who knows how to pitch to the weaknesses of his opponents. In retrospect, he uses that same mentality to benefit him when at the plate. Richie is a left-handed hitter with the potential of being a power hitter. We're looking forward to having him contribute on both sides of the ball."

The final Duke to sign with the Cannons is RHP Christopher Wallace of North Huntingdon, PA. Head Coach of JMU, Ikenberry on Wallace, "As a player Chris shows a sense of determination and motivation that cannot be taught. He will be a huge presence for us on the mound in the upcoming years. He is 6-foot-6 and has a fastball that runs into the upper 80's, low 90's. His variety of pitches allows him to be unpredictable to hitters, which includes one of the best breaking balls I've seen. Chris' work ethic, team player attitude and his relentless pursuit to be great is something that will be contagious amongst our players."
