Mike Smith

Assistant Coach

 Mike Smith is the Head Baseball Coach at Clarke County High School in Berryville, Virginia. 

Previously, Smith spent the last four years as the Assistant Coach/ 3rd-base Coach at Washington High School (W.V).

In 2009 and 2010, Smith served as the head coach of the Millbrook Pioneers (Winchester, Virginia).

Smtih was an Assistant Coach at Jefferson High School from 2006-2008 , helping lead the Cougars to a State Title in 2007.

In 2005, Smith wa an Assistant Coach at Martinsburg High School (WV) and was also an Assistant Coach at Shenandoah University in 2004.

From 2000-2003, Smith served as Head Coach at Clarke County High School, where he led the Eagles to two state playoff appearances and the lone Regional Championship in school-history. Smith also has considerable American-Legion coaching experience with Post 53 (Front Royal) and Post 21 (Winchester). 

Smith is no stranger to the Valley League, serving as the field manager of the Front Royal Cardinals and as an Assistant Coach with the Winchester Royals and Strasburg Express. Smith was the General Manager of the Cannons for two years when the team was located in Charles Town, West Virginia, and is currently an Assistant Coach and 1st-base Coach for the Cannons in their first season in Purcellville. 

In total, Smith has coached over 50 players who have been drafted by the MLB and has been selected four times to coach in the Mid-Atlantic Baseball All-Star Classic. 

In 2001 and 2003, Smith was crowned Bull Run Coach of the Year and also won Virginia Region-B Coach of the Year in 2003. 

In both 2001 and 2003, Smith was named Coach of the Year by both the Northern Virginia Daily and Winchester Star newspapers.
